CELEBRATING THE SUCCESS OF OUR INITIAL TEACHER TRAINING PROGRAMME AT REIGATE SCHOOL

Celebrating the Success of Our Initial Teacher Training Programme at Reigate School

At Reigate School, we are proud to be part of the i2i Teaching Partnership, where our commitment to training exceptional teachers is central to everything we do. Led by Michelle Marshall, our Reigate Centre Director, the Initial Teacher Training (ITT) programme is designed to provide aspiring educators with the tools, skills, and confidence to succeed in the classroom. As part of the Greensand Multi Academy Trust, we prioritise staff development, knowing that great teachers are the foundation of outstanding schools.

Our ITT programme, delivered in partnership with the outstanding-rated i2i Teaching Partnership, combines academic theory with real-world classroom practice. This approach ensures that trainee teachers are well-prepared to meet the challenges of the profession. Michelle Marshall highlights the strength of this year’s cohort, saying, "This year's new cohort have made a fantastic start and are already having rich discussions, demonstrating their ability to recognise how theory translates into practice. I am really excited to see them grow into excellent, reflective practitioners throughout the year."

At the heart of our work is the belief that investing in staff development benefits not only our trainees but also the children they teach. The Greensand Multi Academy Trust recognises the importance of professional growth, helping our teachers evolve into outstanding educators who inspire children and shape their futures. Many of our trainees have gone on to secure teaching positions within the Trust, highlighting our commitment to cultivating talent from within.

Under the guidance of experienced mentors, our trainees engage in hands-on classroom experience, supported by expert feedback and collaborative learning. The i2i Teaching Partnership’s outstanding reputation reflects the high-quality training and support we offer, helping our trainees become confident, capable teachers. We are passionate about nurturing their growth throughout the programme, knowing they will leave ready to make a meaningful impact in their classrooms.

We take pride in our role as a key part of the i2i Teaching Partnership. By prioritising staff development we continue to shape the next generation of dedicated, reflective, and highly skilled educators who will contribute to the success of children across the schools we serve.

Stu, a former i2i trainee and History teacher in our Trust says:

“When the chance came to work here, I leapt at it and am lucky enough to have the same mentor for ECT. The i2i curriculum is so embedded into what Reigate School does that it was virtually seamless to come from training to teaching here.”
